On the real name Iosif Hechter, Mihail Sebastian was born in Braila in a Jewish family. He followed the university and philosophy university studies in Bucharest. He worked as a secretary at a law firm and then as a lawyer. The entry into the literature was made by Nae Ionescu, the president of his baccalaureate commission.

Since 1940 he knew the anti -Semitic persecution. I was forbidden to publish as a journalist and to restore the lawyer's license. Due to the fact that he was a Jew, his pieces were forbidden. In order to be able to stage the “no -name Star”, Mihai Sebastian was used by a pseudonym: Victor Mincu. The writer was chosen with the title of “unlikely Jew” being condemned by anti-Semites for his origin, but also by the Jews who considered him a traitor and close to the Communist Party in 1944.
On May 29, 1945, around 3 pm, Mihail Sebastian was hit by a truck on Regina Maria Boulevard in Bucharest and died at the age of 37. The writer had in his pocket the text of the conference he was going to hold at the university.

The Bucharest Bible, also known as the “Bible of Şerban Cantacuzino” was the first complete translation of the Bible in Romanian, being published in Bucharest, in 1688. Written in Cyrillic characters, its full title was “The Bible adorns the Divine Scripture of the Old and New Testament”.
300 years after their appearance, “The Bible of Serban Cantacuzino” She was reprinted in facsimile and transcript to the typography of the Biblical and Mission Institute of the Romanian Orthodox Church in a jubilee edition. The initiative belonged to the Patriarch Iustin Moisescu (1977-1986) and was perfect by the Teoctist Patriarch (1986-2007).
