Unirea Ungheni, the team that saved from relegation in the first season spent in Liga 2, has very high chances for the next season to evolve under the name of AFC ASA Târgu Mureș.
The Local Council in Ungheni, the one who runs the club, approved the association with AFC ASA Târgu Mureș, according to Liga2.ro.

The Local Council of the city of Ungheni approved the draft decision number 4401, proposed on May 20.
“Draft decision regarding the approval of the teaching, with a definitive title, by the Unirea Ungheni 2018 Sports Club to the football ASA Târgu Mureș Football Association, of the sports activity and the place of participation in the competitions, respectively the National Championship Liga 2, starting with the season 2025-2026, of the football team CS Unirea Ungheni 2018, as well as of all the Sports Club Unirea Ungheni 2018 ”, is their proposal, according to the source quoted above.
The Union Ungheni must submit the file to change the FRF to be analyzed and subsequently, approved or rejected, between 1-30 June.
The proposal approved by the local councilors from Ungheni argues that the sports activity and the place of participation in the Liga 2 of CS Unirea 2018 will be delivered to AFC ASA Târgu Mureș, starting with the 2025-2026 season, including the lot of players, the technical staff and all the federative sports rights.
Thus Târgu Mureș was the Romanian vice -champion in 2015, during which time he had a limit for the title against the FCSB.
The team later suffered an imminent decline, and over 2 years retrograde in Liga 2, and the club was to be abolished.
The new band was re -established in 2021, and is now ready to take over the place in the Liga 2 of Unirea Ungheni.
Union Ungheni finished the regular season in Liga 2 on the 11th place, with 26 points. In group A in the play-out, the team only ticked 4 points from the 6 stages played, but managed to avoid the relegation.
