Sweden authorities as the first in the world in 1998 banned the purchase of sexual services, for this is punishable by up to a year in prison or a fine. Until now, however, this provision was only referred to a physical meeting, now it has been extended to the Internet.

The amendment to the Penal Code was adopted at the request of social organizations. Experts of the Talita Association paid attention to the controversial activity of some internet portals, allowing teenagers to earn money to provide their fans with erotic content. It was emphasized that in this way young people who are promised more and more money for crossing subsequent boundaries are drawn into the world of pornographic business.

“We are observing a dangerous trend, the activities of this type of portals or applications are a gate from the digital world to physical prostitution for young girls,” Nina Larsson, Minister of Seas Equality, emphasized.

A center -right coalition and opposition parties have been in favor of tightening the law prohibiting the purchase of sex. The Social Democrats Club demanded the next step, a ban on platforms to offer sexual services at a distance.

The new recipe aroused a debate before adopting. The media gave examples of adult women, for whom showing nudity in front of the camera on the Internet became a source of income, from which taxes pay. One of the heroines from the report in the newspaper “Dagens Nyheter” announced a trip from the country.

In Sweden, offering sex is not prosecuted by law.
