The flow of gas from Poland to Ukraine will increase. “Thank you to Polish partners”

The agreement on gas supplies from Poland is intended to support Ukraine in a difficult period of intensified Russian attacks, causing interruptions in the supply of electricity, water and heating. “The Polish operator of the gas transmission system Gaz-System and the HTS Operator (gas transport system – PAP) of Ukraine have agreed to gradually increase the capacity for gas imports from Poland to Ukraine from the beginning of February 2026. By the end of April, the capacity in this direction will increase from 15.3 million cubic meters to 18.4 million cubic meters per day,” Denys Shmyhal reported in the Telegram messenger.

Support for Ukraine in difficult winter conditions
As noted by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, thanks to this agreement it will be possible to ensure stable heat supplies to Ukrainian homes, hospitals, schools and other critical infrastructure facilities important for society. This is especially important at a time when Russian troops are shelling Ukraine's energy facilities in harsh winter conditions. In many homes, including: in Kiev there is a lack of electricity, heat and even running water.

Shmyhal explained that increasing import capacity is part of systemic work to strengthen Ukraine's energy security and diversify gas supply routes. “The Polish direction provides access to various gas sources and remains one of the key sources for imports. In 2025, 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered through Poland – over 30% of the total import volume, including approximately 600 million cubic meters of American LNG,” Szmyhal wrote.
“We would like to thank Polish partners for their consistent support for Ukraine and for working together to strengthen our energy resilience,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
