The accident took place on the evening of April 6, 2024, on the football field in the village of Ciumeghiu, Bihor county, where the children in the area used to play. Then six years old, Darius Miculiță was there with two friends and the mother of one of them. In a play point, one of the children raised the foot of a mobile football gate, which was not fixed in the ground. His gate unbalanced and fell over Darius, crushing his head, writes ebihoreanul.ro

The images on the surveillance cameras surprised the entire accident, but, in the 13 months, the Salonta Prosecutor's Office has not yet identified a culprit. Although witnesses have been heard and the video evidence has been analyzed, the criminal investigation is still in progress.

“No official accusation was formulated, but the investigations continue”the prosecutor's office sent at the request of Bihorean.

“I hope he will live, I want so much”

On the night of the accident, the child was operated on the brain, and after three days a second intervention followed. “At first the doctors said that he was not sure he would come out of a coma. When he woke up, they said it would be a vegetable. But look how much God loves us.”says Mariana Miculiță, the boy's mother.

After a month of hospitalization, Darius could not go, talk or swallow. Patiently, the mother cared for home, feeding him like a newborn. The recovery was slow but constant. A few weeks after discharge, Darius got up alone and went to the kitchen. He then started to go, speak and, last summer, participated in the celebration at the end of the preparatory class.

“We prayed a lot and listened to us. We were not alone, I know that many people who do not know us were prayed for us.”says Darius's mother.

In October, the child suffered a new operation. Doctors have mounted two 3D boards that replace the missing part of the cranial box. The family chose this solution instead of those in Titan, settled by the state, so that the boy is not stigmatized. The costs, of 8,000 lei, were covered from donations.

Full Recovery, Partial Support

Currently, Darius is a student in class I and is doing without help. “I am delighted by his evolution, he is doing very well.”says Professor Florin Viliga.

The child benefits from a certificate of handicap of the first degree, and the mother is employed as her personal assistant, with an allowance of 2,500 lei a month, together with the amount granted to the child.

However, the family claims that the Ciumeghiu City Hall, the owner of the land where the accident occurred, did not comply with his legal obligations. Although the local administration should have paid the social contributions related to the accompanying allowance, this would not have happened.

Moreover, parents have never been called to talk to the prosecutor who instrument the case. “Nobody called us anywhere”says Mariana.

A family that is not beaten

Miculiță spouses are modest and hard -working people. Mariana has four classes, but she has dealt alone with the finishes of the house, grows birds and pigs and cares for the garden. Gheorghe, her husband, is working in a factory in Salonta. The three children – 7, 10 and 17 years old – are raised with respect and discipline. “We only ask them to be good and to keep them in school, to have a better life than we had”says my mother.

Mariana continues to take Darius to the psychologist. The boy sometimes has episodes of agitation, but his parents say that the reactions are natural, in the context of the trauma suffered. “He is spoiled, I admit, he was before the accident,” says the mother.

Accept any manifestation from the child with a deep understanding: “If Darius hadn't survived, I would have shouted in pain all my life.”

The family hopes that, in the end, the responsibility for the accident will be assumed by those in law and that they will receive support for the medical expenses. Until then, they enjoy the living miracle in the yard of their house.
