The highway that reaches the Republic of Moldova has a designated builder. Section 4 of the A8, financed by the SAFE programme

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Irinel Ionel Scrioșteanu, informed on Wednesday that the constructor was appointed for Section 4 of the A8 Union Highway, which will ensure the connection to the Prut and the continuation with the first kilometers of the highway in the Republic of Moldova.

“The builder has been appointed for the design and execution Section 4 of the A8 Unirii Motorway, Târgu Neamț – Iasi – Unghenibeing the last 15 km towards the border with the Republic of Moldova that will connect with the Flower Bridge over the Prut from Ungheni and, implicitly, with the Republic of Moldova”informed Ionel Scrioșteanu on his Facebook page.

According to him, the builder is Asocirea Itinera SPA (Leader) – Sapiem SPA – ICM SPA.

The contract provides for several complex works, including: 12.7 km route length; 12 structures (bridges, viaducts, passages); 2 tunnels, the longest of which will be 1700 m long and 2 road junctions with the Regional Hospital and Iași Airport, respectively the Golăiesti junction.

Also, 2 service spaces are planned, as well as 2.77 km of connecting road between the Golăiesti node and the Flower Bridge over the Prut from Ungheni.

The project also includes the construction of the first km of highway on the territory of Bessarabia (4.7 km), as well as the connection with the future multimodal logistics hub at the Berești station (Ungheni District) – the object of a joint request for funding from the two countries.

The duration of the contract will be 46 months, of which 10 months for the design stage and 36 months for the works execution stage, the secretary of the Ministry of Transport also informed.

According to him, the value of the winning bid is 3.57 billion lei, and the funding source will be through the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) Program, funding approved by the European Commission for dual infrastructure (civilian and military).

He specified that the public tender procedure is carried out by the National Road Investment Company and, considering the very accelerated calendar provided by the financing program, the tender procedures are carried out with very short deadlines, so that the signing of the contracts can be done in a much shorter time.
