The new Microsoft project can be as important for the Internet as the HTML code

What exactly is NLWEB and where does it fit into the vision of agent internet? Microsoft defines nlweb as The fastest and easiest way for the user to “talk to the content” of the site as with Copilot. Each instance simultaneously plays the role of the Context Protocol (MCP) server and can provide knowledge with other online agents.
MCP is a context exchange protocol standardized by Anthropic and partners. It combines distributed knowledge bases with AI applications. In other words, it's a way that Various AI programs can get along and exchange knowledge onlineas if they were part of one great, common network.
The vision of an open agent network, announced during Microsoft at the Build 2025 conference, assumes that such servers will become equal network nodes with which autonomous AI agents will talk.

Benefits for website owners
NLWEB derives from the Schema.org ecosystem, today used by over 45 million domains, as well as from the growing market of vector databases, the value of which is to jump from $ 1.6 billion. in 2023 to $ 10.6 billion before the end of the decade. Thanks to this, the owner of a given website may in a small work:
- Reduce search and service. Companies that have implemented RAG-CHATBOTY report multi-million annual savings on Help Desk
- Increase conversions – Dashly shows that machines not only remove 2.5 billion of man -hours per year, but in some industries increase the conversion rate by up to 70 percent.
- Sainting on changes in search engines. The growing popularity of Voice Search (over a billion inquiries per month and forecasted $ 45 billion in voice trade until 2028) transfers the contact point with the brand to dialog
SprinkLR statistics show that The AI conversation market for brands is growing on average 23 percent. annuallyand consumers declare growing trust in bots solving complex tasks. For the average Internet user, this means:
- Faster access to information – 59 percent customers expect a bot reaction in five seconds
- Higher level of personalization and contextual recommendations, which according to the Glassix test translates into an average of 23 % increase in conversion
- Possibility of screening without screen – 58 percent Americans are already using Voice Search, and 75 percent Households are to have a smart-lock in 2025. OpenAI is also working on this type of device

A potential impact on business models
If the interface layer moves from clicking the dialogue menu, browser sessions may be shortened, and revenues from banner advertising – drastically fall. The owner of the site, however, gains new monetization channels: Paid answers, transactions closed by AI agent or sale of contextual API.
McKinsey estimates that generative AI can add 4.4 trillion to the world economy. annual value, but Only 1 percent companies have adequate maturity in the context of implementation. The gap in readiness becomes in itself a market chance.
At 73 percent Users concerned about data protection in conversations with bots, NLWEB design must take into account the minimization of collected data and encryption. From February 2025, AI Act imposes an obligation to clearly mark conversation systems and enable human intervention, and from August 2025 – additional requirements for general purpose models. For some sites, at the expense of implementation, they can also be fees for vector base hosting and risk of model hallucinationwhich can lead to incorrect advice and loss of confidence in the brand.

When the implementation of NLweb has the most meaning
The project will pay the most to websites with an extensive content catalog (media, e-commerce, e-learning), where classic navigation frustrates the user, as well as companies with repeatable questions to the service department and brands that already maintain Schema.org and vector search engine schemes.
The introduction of such an interface should be considered before entering into force full AI ACT requirements. This will allow you to build experience and procedures in accordance with the new regulation before competitors are obliged to do so.
But will it all pay off? The scale of investments in conversational AI and growing infrastructure – from a boom to vector bases to growing vocal trade revenues – suggest that Dialogue as the basic method of interaction with content is a durable trend. Publishers who previously integrate their content from NLWEB and MCP have a chance to become the first layer of data for the growing population of AI agents, and thus gain a high share in new value chains.
Those who ignore the change may lose visibility just like once not adapted to mobile devices. Ultimately, NLWEB opens the way not only to improve search, but to the reconstruction of the network business model itself. Specifically, the transfer of customer-firma relationships to a more direct, conversational dimension. Ahead of us is a world in which websites and shops are simply talked about.
