And in the kitchen and living room. Connected Living is not magic

The greatest potential of AI lies in repetitive and non -critical activities. Last year, we conducted research among Polish women and Poles, which show that one of the biggest challenges of everyday life they currently face are: energy consumption management in devices and preventing food waste. Every third Pole (32 percent) would like AI to help in the monotonous performance of repetitive duties, and 31 percent He expects AI to help in their faster and more efficient performance. Importantly, 68 percent respondents indicated that AI would also relieve their minds, so they would not have to think about home responsibilities [1]. AI supports us in routine: instead of coming back to the same choices, the entire system leads the entire system once established.

It's not magic – it's data

Imagine such a morning. Instead of looking for a light switch, the house adapts the lighting to the mood itself – bright, energetic colors arouse to action. In the kitchen, the fridge reminds that fresh juice is waiting and suggests an idea for a quick breakfast, based on what is inside. The oven, which we programmed yesterday evening, shows the progress of baking rolls in the application.

The application manages the optimal energy consumption: the washing machine and dryer move the cycle to hours, when the energy is cheaper – AI mode ensures that the devices use as little as possible. On the smartphone screen, we check not only detailed electricity consumption, but also what is happening throughout the house – for example, what our dog does in the neighboring room.

During this time, the TV in the living room recognizes the type of content and optimizes the image and sound. We do not “serve” these decisions; We just live and the system reserves our attention for matters in which it has the greatest value. This is not “magic”; This is a simple benefit of data and models learning on the edge of the network.

Success is in invisibility

Connected Living is growing because there are three key directions of technology development. The first is standardization – thanks to joint protocols such as Matterdevices of various manufacturers can work together without a complicated configuration. The second is Edge AIi.e. intelligence operating locally, in the device itself – which means faster operation, greater security and privacy. Third is service model: consumers are increasingly expecting not only modern equipment, but a specific effect – convenience, energy savings or security.

Today we live in the world of ecosystems and the art is to combine them into one almost living organism. For example, such an application like SmartThings allows you to connect over 5,000 in one ecosystem today. devices of various brands. AI functions in refrigerators or washing machines show that Edge AI really works at home, optimizing energy consumption and facilitating everyday life. And the whole ecosystem means that the user uses not a single device, but with a consistent experience.

Does more time gained thanks to AI mean more rest? Ai releases us from activities, but we decide whether the resulting space will be filled with work, entertainment or regeneration. Therefore, in Connected Living design, digital hygiene and human control are as important as algorithms: transparent settings, priorities, pauses without notification, the possibility of one click “do not disturb”. Success depends on three features: invisibility (technology disappears in the background), interoperability (everything works with everything) and respect for time. The system takes us away, not agility. Ai will not replace curiosity, creativity or relationships – and fortunately. It is supposed to make more space for them.

Caution matters

The integrated world is also a chance for business. This is a change in the model of companies: from closed ecosystems to interoperability, from “equipment” to services and effect (efficiency, saving, continuity). The condition of trust is Security by Design – In practice, this means multi -layered protection of devices and data as well as central management. In this approach, Connected Living becomes a competitive advantage: it simplifies operations, strengthens cyber resistance and realistically reduces costs.

However, you can't talk about AI without a little caution. Each technology raises questions about privacy, transparency and limits of automation. Artificial intelligence in unauthorized hands can become a tool for manipulation and violations of privacy. It is natural that users want to be sure that their data remain secure. That is why solutions designed for safety from the very beginning are so important. I recommend paying attention to those systems that create a multi -layered safety shield, thanks to which it remains resistant to attacks and takes over the role of a digital guard standing on the border between convenience and risk.

The combined world is not an end in itself. Is a tool. If he serves people – everyone will win: users, because they will regain time; companies, because they will build loyalty and optimize processes; Society, because it will use less energy and less resources. This is the practical sense of AI: on thousands of small decisions that the system makes for us, guided by our choices, giving us more space for life.

[1] The study “Artificial intelligence in home appliances” was conducted in July 2024 at a representative sample of 1000 Polish inhabitants aged 18-64. It was a quantitative study, carried out online on the basis of a standardized questionnaire. The attempt was representative of the population in terms of gender, age, education and the size of the place of residence, and analytical weighing was used for full representativeness.
