Premiere in gastronomy: Restaurant in Dubai, rewarded with three Michelin stars

The famous Michelin guide attributed three stars to an Indian restaurant in Dubai, thus marking a premiere for Indian gastronomy, AFP reports.
Shouts of joy and applause have greeted the announcement by which the prestigious reward was attributed to the Indian restaurant, coordinated by the master chef Himanshu Saini, as well as to another restaurant in Dubai, FZN, led by the chef Bjorn Frantzen, writes Agerpres.
None of the restaurants in India has so far received the supreme distinction – three stars – awarded by the Michelin guide.
“Today, I became aware (…) of the weight of obtaining the three Michelin stars as the only Indian restaurant,” said Bhuneder Nath, the founder Trew Studio.
His chef, Himanshu Saini, 38 years old, expressed his “pride” and hope that “this prize will motivate the young chefs to come here.”
“It is a great moment for Indian gastronomy,” he added.
In the rich emirate in the Persian Gulf area, whose population is made up of 90% of the expatriates, about 3.5 million Indian citizens live.
The international director of the Michelin guide, Gwendal Poullennec, wanted to greet the creativity of the young 38 -year -old chef, who said he is “a pioneer” who opened the way for “many other talents to join the India industry.”
“He entered history”
On his website, the restaurant Tresing Studio declares his ambition to buscula preconceived ideas about Indian gastronomy, “presenting both new and familiar flavors, through a creative lens.”
“A masterpiece of originality and precision, the surprise tasting menu, made up of numerous dishes, combines flavors from the four corners of India,” says Michelin guide on his site.
This 20 -seater restaurant, with an open kitchen to Palm Jumeirah, an archipelago of luxurious artificial islands, had already been awarded with two Michelin stars.
He “entered history becoming the first Indian restaurant in the world that received the highest distinction from the Michelin Guide,” the press release released at the end of the ceremony points out.
Michelin's guide is not present in India. More and more Indian chefs are awarded worldwide, but “no one has reached such an excellence,” said his international director.
Gwendal Poullennec also welcomed the “impressive” performance of the FZN restaurant, led by Bjorn Frantzen, who opened just a few months ago in this city and is also built on an artificial island in Palm Jumeirah.
With over 13,000 restaurants and cafes and over 18.7 million tourists hosted last year, the Emirate of the Persian Gulf is trying to impose itself as a world -renowned gastronomic destination.
Dubai was the first city in the Middle East to join the collection of the Michelin Guide in 2022, being followed a little later by the neighboring Emirate Abu Dhabi.
Since then, the number of restaurants that are included in the selection has increased from 69 to 119.
The 2025 record also includes three restaurants that received two Michelin stars and 14 restaurants that received a Michelin star.
