Băsescu, about a circulated version of the prime minister: “It would be a joke between the parties” / Warning for Nicușor Dan

Former president Traian Băsescu declared that a possible technocrat prime minister has “no chance of doing anything”, considering that even for a political prime minister, negotiations in a coalition of parties are difficult.
A technocrat prime minister “doesn't even know the address of the party headquarters”, said Băsescu ironically, on Wednesday, on Digi24, questioning the effectiveness of such a scenario.
“It would be a cross-party battle. Look at how difficult it is for a prime minister to negotiate within the alliance, let alone a technocrat,” added the former president.
At the same time, Traian Băsescu warned President Nicușor Dan that he risks being “put behind” the possible negative consequences of the fact that Romania does not have a Government with full powers.
“If he doesn't solve the problem quickly, all the failures that will be registered as a result of the lack of Government will be put behind him. So he must be very careful, because an extension of the crisis only creates conditions for the parties, with their specialists in demagoguery, whether we are talking about the PSD, the PNL or other parties, to put behind the president the non-attraction of funds from the PNRR or – God forbid! – those intended To the army,” said the former head of state.
Nicușor Dan convened for Thursday, at the Cotroceni Palace, consultations with the parliamentarians from the United for Romania (UPR) parliamentary group, the PACE – First Romania parliamentary group and with non-affiliated elected officials. On Monday, the president held talks with the representatives of the national minorities, PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, AUR, POT and SOS Romania.
The two options in the opinion of Traian Băsescu
He indicated as the first scenario the restoration of the former PSD + PNL + USR + UDMR + National Minorities coalition.
“If the coalition cannot be restored, I think the best solution would be for Mr. President to entrust the mandate to the party with the largest number of MPs, as it resulted from the elections,” continued the former president.
Traian Băsescu reiterated that, in his opinion, PSD will manage to collect 233 votes in Parliament for the investiture of the new Government if President Nicușor Dan entrusts it with the mandate.
“The PSD is the most experienced party in creating majorities in the Parliament. Just as it created the majority for the fall of the Government, an extremely wide majority, it will create a more or less transparent majority from the point of view of the names of the groups that are part of that majority, but it will create it and it will be able to go before the Parliament with a program and the list of ministers successfully, that is, it will pass the Parliament's vote, it will make the 233 votes”, he added declared Băsescu.
