The Taimyr Museum of Local Lore for the first time presented to the public the detail of the Tbilisi steamer, raised from the bottom of the Kara Sea during the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society in April 2025.
Presumably, this is a handle or flywheel that were used on a ship to control a cast -iron valve.
The unique exhibit replenished the museum exhibition “Your feat is eternal, soldier! A look from the Arctic ”, telling about the events of the Great Patriotic War.

Recall that the Tbilisi ship, which was blown up on the German mine and sank in the Krestovsky Islands in the Yenisei Bay of the Kara Sea during the Second World War in 1943, was discovered in 2024 during the RGO expedition.
In 2025, during the new expedition, it was possible to examine the ship in more detail and even raise its fragments from the bottom.
“This expedition is important for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Russia as a whole, it continues a number of measures to preserve historical memory about the events of the Great Patriotic War and the heroism of Soviet people. Now our fellow countrymen can see the part of the Tbilisi steamer in the museum and personally touch our great history, ”said Igor Spiridenko, chairman of the Krasnoyarsk regional department of the RGO.
