The mayor of Sinaia, Vlad Oprea, was transported on Wednesday evening to the Ploiești County Emergency Hospital, said Agerpres, News.ro sources and those of the local publication Campina TV. Also on Wednesday, but earlier, the Bucharest Court of Appeal ordered the preventive arrest of the mayor for 30 days, on the grounds that he violated the prohibitions within the judicial control measure.
Medical sources told AGERPRES that the mayor had a cardiac crisis and was transported to Ploiești County Hospital for a specialized check. The information was also transmitted by News.ro, whose sources say that Vlad Oprea has accused the arrest of the Prahova County Police Inspectorate and was initially taken to the Hospital in Campina, and then to SJU Ploiești.
“The patient accused heart problems, was stabilized and transferred to the County Emergency Hospital,” said the manager of the Campina Municipal Hospital, Marius Niculescu, for Campina TV.
On Wednesday, the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected as unfounded the appeal made by the mayor of Sinaia and ordered his preventive arrest, on the grounds that he violated the prohibitions in the judicial control.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal thus confirmed a decision taken on May 16 by the Bucharest Court, which admitted the request of the National Anticorruption Directorate to replace the judicial control for bail with the measure of preventive arrest.
Prosecutors claim that, on March 4 and March 13, 2025, Vlad Oprea met, in the technical room of a hotel in Sinaia, with the deputy mayor of the city, who currently exercises the duties of mayor. The meetings and discussions between the two were registered by the investigators.
On May 13, the mayor stated that he respected judicial control.
“The statements regarding the violation of the terms of judicial control are completely unreal and represent pure speculation, which are not based on any real situation, and are launched in the public space by the same persons who carry out bad faith and my family a negative image campaign, in which countless false information is promoted, but also to our public,
