A Russian missile attack on a military instruction base in Ukraine caused victims among Ukrainian soldiers on Wednesday, the Ukrainian army announced, according to DPA and EFE news agencies.

At least two Iskander ballistic missiles hit the base, it was a “precision blow” on the shelter where the soldiers were, the Command of the Ukrainian Land Forces said, which did not specify the number of victims.

Despite the security measures, the direct blow to this shelter made it impossible to prevent the victims, said the Ukrainian army, in a statement.

“The relevant emergency services intervene on the spot. The injured personnel receive all the necessary medical assistance,” says the statement, quoted by The Kyiv Independent.

Ukrainian ground forces did not reveal the location of the attack. The Ukrainian army added that efforts are made to strengthen the training centers, polygons and other military infrastructures with consolidated shelters, to reduce the number of victims following continuous Russian attacks.

Ukrainian air forces reported a Russian attack with rockets and drones in the Cernigău region, north of Kiev, where the Ukrainian army has an instructional base.

This is not the first time that the Russian army hits such bases in the war in progress for more than three and a half years, the poor protection of the Ukrainian soldiers involved in training activities before being sent to the front being a recurrent problem of the Ukrainian army, notes Agerpres.

A recent attack, from August 12, led to the death of one soldier and the injury of 11.

Former commander of Ukrainian ground forces, Mihailo Drapatii, resigned in June after several Russian attacks on military instruction centers.
