All services worked well as part of the election umbrella – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski, asked about the matter of political advertising on Wednesday. He added that the ministry began the construction of the NASK cyber security center.

“What happened when it comes to an election umbrella is an element of the state's responsibility and I am fully convinced that all the services at that time worked well” – PAP Gawkowski, asked if NASK reacted transparently and quickly quickly to political advertising on Facebook, about which the Institute informed last week.
Gawkowski also pointed out that the Ministry of Digitization (MC) began a procedure related to the construction of the NASK Cyber security center (CCN), which is to start operating in 2030. “Work on the implementation of the project is ongoing. I hope it will be a key place, + heart of responsibility + for civil cyber security in Poland” – said the head of the ministry. He reminded that as part of the CCN, the National Data Recovery Center, the National Cyber security Operational Center, AI Safety Laboratory, Fusing Laboratory and Malware Research, and the Cyber security certification center. “I believe it will be something special,” said the head of MC.
Last Wednesday, a scientific and academic computer network (NASK) announced a possible attempt to interfere in the election campaign – it was about political advertising on Facebook, which could be financed from abroad. ABW was informed about the case. Advertising accounts involved in the campaign in the last seven days have to spend more on political materials than any election committee. According to NOK, these activities were supposed to seem to support one of the candidates and discredit others. “The campaigns implemented by advertising accounts concerned Rafał Trzaskowski, Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen,” said in a statement.
On Thursday, Wirtualna Polska wrote that for political advertisements published on the Internet promoting Rafał Trzaskowski and attacking his competitors: PiS Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen (confederation) supported by PiS (confederation), the employee and volunteers of the Akcja Democracy Foundation and that Internet users have been paying attention to these advertising for several weeks.
According to NASK last week, the ads were blocked as a result of the actions of the election umbrella. The meta denied these reports. “We have not deleted any ads related to these sites at the NASK request, because they do not break our rules. The ads are displayed as inactive in the advertising library, because the period of this advertising campaign is over” – said company representatives last week.
Director of NASK Radosław Nielek at the Tuesday meeting of the Digitization Committee, Innovation and Modern Technologies argued that the institution subordinate to him properly, because it identified a potential threat, she informed the relevant services to clarify the matter and acted transparently, also informing public opinion.
“NASK, as a state institute, works absolutely professionally” – assured Deputy Minister of Digitization in the Sejm Paweł Olszewski, when asked by MP Joanna Borowiak (PiS), or “the rulers use NASK, an independent expert institution, as an instrument of current political struggle.” Olszewski added that currently the Internal Security Agency is conducting its activities and NASK reported the case to the ABW on May 10. “PKW, KBW was also informed; one of the committees submitted a notification to the prosecutor's office in connection with the possibility of financing an illegal campaign,” the deputy head of MC pointed out.
In December 2024, the Ministry of Digitization announced that the State Treasury transferred to the NASK Research Institute the right to a plot of land on which the NASK Cyber security center (CCN) will be established. It was announced that the headquarters will be built at ul. November 11 in Warsaw, and construction will start in 2025. The implementation of the CCN creation project began in 2023. It is to support Poland's cybersecurity, increasing resistance to attacks in cyberspace. His task will also be to improve the ability to prevent and respond to incidents in entities that are key to the economy. According to information on the NASK website, the cost of CCN is PLN 310 million. Co -financing with the EU is about PLN 247 million, which is nearly 80 percent. values. Almost PLN 63 million comes from the state budget. Construction of the center is the implementation of the EU Directive NIS 2 regarding cyber security.
