Dominic Fritz, the interim president of the USR and the mayor of Timișoara, held statements on Sunday evening, after displaying the Exit-Poll results for the second round of the presidential elections, and also congratulated the independent candidate Nicușor Dan for “This victory”.

The exit-poll poll conducted by Avangarde and transmitted Hotnews gives Nicușor Dan, with a score of 54.9%, while George Simion has 45.1%. According to another exit-pool made by the course, Nicușor Dan was voted by 54.1% of Romanians, and George Simion by 45.9% Romanians. Meanwhile, the official count started, and the first million votes were counted in half an hour. There are votes in both the country and the diaspora, most of the small sections.

“First of all, congratulations, Nicușor Dan! Without a doubt, this victory belongs to him, but this victory is also a victory for the whole of Romania, it is a proof that Romania is as some wanted to portray it both in the country and abroad in recent weeks. The thanks belong to all the Romanians, to all the citizens of this country, who came to vote, “said Dominic Fritz.

He praised the presence at the vote, which was 64.72%.

“So great was the longing for a normality that now we can say that this great presence is a democratic normality with which we all want to get used to it. Today, every vote has mattered the same. Today, whether you are from a village in Suceava, or you are from a sector in Bucharest, or you are a employer or a work or a teacher, ANI, ”added the mayor of Timisoara.

He urged George Simion, the golden candidate, to recognize “this defeat”.

“I want to send a message to all those who have not voted with Nicușor Dan today. Even though I am convinced that George Simion has not played with legitimate tools many times, even though today he does not even recognize his defeat, and I call on him to do it quickly, however, that does not mean that I have to do it. We all want a powerful, prosperous Romania, a Romania in which every citizen receives due respect and can assure you that we all, the USR, all who have supported Nicușor Dan, are aware of our responsibility that we must rebuild these bridges (…).
