Nicolas Sarkozy, the former president of France, confused a color journalist from France TV with the mother of the French international Ousmane Dembele, the new laureate of the Golden Ball, reports News.ro.

Sentenced on Thursday to five years in prison after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy, due to the fact that he received Libyan financing in his 2007 election campaign, Nicolas Sarkozy appealed to the sentence, denouncing an “injustice”. The former president will know the date of his incarceration only on October 13, when he will be presented in front of the financial parquet.

In the meantime, however, Sarkozy was on Saturday night on Parc des Princes to attend the match between PSG and Auxerre, score 2-0.

He wanted to pay tribute to Ousmane Dembele and, according to Le Parisien, the former head of state confused a journalist with Ousmane Dembele.

“You can be proud of him, you grew up well,” Sarkozy told France TV, born in Senegal, believing he was talking to the mother of the French international. Finally, the journalist smiled and answered Sarkozy, without revealing his identity. “We were all with him,” said the journalist, for the fun of those present, among which were officials of the PSG club.
