Medvedev threatens to escape the war: “Failed negotiations can lead to a more terrible stage of the war”

Russia's Vice -President of the Russian Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev, sent a threatening message on the Social Network X, in the context of a first round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, held in Istanbul.
“All Russia's enemies that launch negotiating ultimatums should remember a simple thing: only peace negotiations do not always lead to hostilities. Unsuccessful negotiations can lead to a more terrible stage of war with new weapons and participants”, Wrote Medvedev, referring to the pressures from the Western leaders.
In this tense context, US President Donald Trump said on his own social network on Saturday that he was going to call the Kremlin leader Monday, Vladimir Putin, starting at 10:00, to discuss “Stopping the slaughter in Ukraine ”.
After this conversation, Trump intends to discuss with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, and then they will join leaders from several NATO Member States. According to his statements, Trump hopes that “By the end of Monday there is a cessation of fire in Ukraine.”
Negotiations without result in Istanbul
On Friday, the delegations of Ukraine and Russia have met in Istanbul for the first direct discussions of the last three years, but the meeting has not led to any concrete progress in the direction of the conflict. At the end of the negotiations, the Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, along with several European leaders, asked Trump to impose hard sanctions to Moscow, if Russia does not accept a peace agreement.
Washington relies on the Trump -Putin meeting
The United States, which plays a mediator in an attempt to end the war, believes that the only solution to unlock the situation is a direct meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The two have discussed by telephone in the past, but they have not met face to face when Trump started his second term at the White House.
