Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sent a support message for the independent candidate Nicușor Dan on Wednesday night. He urged the Romanians to defend through their vote the freedom, the integrity, the truth and the rule of law.

“Dear Romanian friends, this Sunday, the Romanians and the Poles will choose their presidents. In both our countries, the stake is as great. Two mayors of our beautiful capitals, Bucharest and Warsaw, Nicușor Dan and Rafał Trzaskowski, will fight with the same dangers: with the aggressive vicinity, with the influence of the agent, with the influence of the agent,” Donald Tusk, in the video message in Romanian published on Nicușor Dan's Facebook page.

The Prime Minister of Poland claimed that “voters, not foreign powers” are the ones who have to decide who will become president.

He also emphasized the European path, both Romania and Poland. “Today, Poland, Romania and Europe are the same family. Europe is you and we love my homeland, I wish them all the best of the brothers and sisters in Romania,” said Tusk.

“A few years ago, as president of the European Council, I addressed you with the following words:« I would like to call on all Romanians-to defend, in Romania and in Europe, the foundations of our political civilization: freedom, integrity, respect in the political life, the rule of law and the Constitution. It seemed impossible, but it succeeded.

Subsequently, the Polish prime minister said that he received from Duckadam his goalkeeper gloves, with a request: “defends Europe, Romania and our freedom, as I defended the gate in Sevilla.”

“They are convinced that these gloves have to receive our leaders today – Nicușor Dan and Rafał Trzaskowski. Live Romania, live Poland, live united Europe,” concluded Donald Tusk.
