Cristian Săpunaru confirmed that he withdraws from football and had a message for the Giulesti supporters.
“I greet you! I was just a child when I trampled in the Giulești stands for the first time and fell in love with this team. In 2006, after years in which I dreamed I could wear the Rapid's shirt became a reality and I got to dress the Rapid's shirt for the first time.
All these years I spent at Rapid were an honor for me and I think that out of love for this club I would have been able to do anything.
I was fortunate to play in quite strong championships. I was fortunate to be the player of the national team, to wear the captain's banner. But, you know how it is, in life all have an end.
The match with CFR Cluj will be my last match as a player of the Rapid on Giulești. It's a hard match for me, but I won't consider it like a goodbye. I will consider it as a new beginning and please remain the same supporters of the Rapid as you have always been. Come on, fast! ”, Cristian Săpunaru said in a video posted on the official Facebook page of Giulesti.
Cristian Săpunaru started his career at Rapid in 2006, and after 2 years spent in Giulești he arrived in Porto in the form of a loan. The Portuguese bought it and played another two years for “Dragons”.
