Do you want to vote outside the house? The last hours are left

375 thousand – So many voters, as of May 12, registered to vote in elections abroad. This is a record when it comes to the election of the President of Poland.
Up to 575 thousand From the parliamentary elections in 2023, however, far and there are many indications that this number will not be exceeded. At least not in the first round.
However, emigrants and tourists staying on the day of elections abroad must hurry. Tuesday (until midnight) is for them the last day for formalities before the first round of elections. They can be completed on this page.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds that before starting registration, you should prepare:
- PESEL number;
- An important Polish passport (or an important Polish ID card, if you intend to vote in the voting circuit created in the Member State of the European Union or in a country where the territory can be entered on the basis of the Polish ID card);
- address of stay abroad;
- e -mail address or contact phone number;
- Mother's family name (which should be given to verify the voter's data).
Without this data, it will not be possible to register in the circuit abroad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls to check how many circuits have been created in the location we are interested in.
“When choosing a voting circuit, please note how many voters have already registered in it. If more voting circuits were created in a given country (consular district), We suggest choosing a circuit with the smallest number of voters” – we read in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Certificate or adding to the census of voters?
The last hours for formalities also have all those who This Sunday they will not be in his hometown, but they will go, for example, to another commune in Poland. Here is the time to decide at midnight from Thursday to Friday, But if we want to settle the matter at the office, it is obvious that you have to think about it earlier than on Thursday at 21.
Such voters have two options. The first is Adding to the list of voters in the place where they will stay while voting. So if, for example, a resident of Warsaw goes to Jasło to communion and knows that he will not be able to go home before closing the polling stations, he has the opportunity to add to the census of voters in one of the circuits in Jasło.
To this end, those interested may submit a request to change the voting place:
- reporting to the City Hall or the commune where they will stay on the day of election;
- Using a trusted profile on the web (then you should indicate the address at which we will be on the day of elections; then we will be assigned to the appropriate election commission).
The change of voting circuit can be arranged on the GOV.pl website.

The second option seems more flexible and more convenient for people who do not know where they will be on Sunday, May 18, because, for example, they are planning a longer route. Then you can submit an application for a certificate of voting right.
With such a document you can come to any regional commission and ask for a list of voters on site. You don't have to declare yourself before. Just come, show a certificate and pick up the voting card. Importantly, you have to have an ID card with you.
An application for a certificate must be submitted in person at any commune office. It can't be done online.
What does the conclusion look like? There is no imposed pattern, you have to write it yourself. Importantly, the following elements must contain in it:
- last name,
- name (names),
- PESEL number,
It is also necessary to indicate the elections that your application relates, in this case they are the elections of the President of the Republic of Poland. Contact data can also be provided.
After receiving the voter's certificate, he is automatically removed from the census in his hometown. From that moment, the only way to vote is to show a certificate. So if you lose this key document, you can forget about voting for your candidate.
With such a certificate, you can vote not only in any committee in Poland, but also abroad.
And what if we vote at home in the first round, and in the second we would like to vote outside the home? Then you can apply for a certificate only for the second round. The deadline in this case is May 15.
