Cristian Pîrvulescu: “George Simion has exploited the negligence of traditional politicians to communicate effectively with people with social problems”

In an interview given to the newspaper “Adevărul”, the political scientist Cristian Pîrvulescu spoke about the reasons why the populists are in the foreground, about how much the lack of efficient and empathetic communication of traditional politicians and how political Romania sees after the elections.

George Simion, the Gold candidate at the Presidential Epo-EPE Presidents
In the opinion of the well -known political scientist, social problems were speculated in the Sovereign Pole campaign and played an important role in outlining the Vote on May 4, but they will become much more imported in the second round. In fact, the aggregate economic data show that, between 2022 and 2024, nominal salaries increased by about 15 percentage points above the average inflation rate, and the median income of the Romanian households rose by 19 % between 2021 and 2022.
However, the socio-economic dissatisfaction remained strong in the electorate, even if, statistically, the salaries have exceeded the inflation rate.
“” And this is because the social reality does not work only on the basis of aggregate figures. In fact, the economic discomfort was induced and amplified in a period with real wage earnings on the one hand by the relative perception and expectations because the inequalities remain, which generates frustration in certain social environments. General. This electoral base was motivated by the dissatisfaction with the current system.says Cristian Pîrvulescu.
He believes that the lack of effective and empathetic communication from traditional politicians has fueled the feeling of abandonment among citizens with social problems: “This negligence was exploited by candidates like Simion, who managed to better mobilize this population segment. The traditional political class is addressed to a standard electorate, as it is defined by electoral consultations insisting on maintaining the status quo and thus neglecting the real or induced needs of some important segments. They filled it, promising radical changes ”.
Cristian Pîrvulescu considers that the sovereigns, such as George Simion, capitalized on the general dissatisfaction with the traditional political class, presenting themselves as authentic and non-compromised alternatives. And the efficient use of social networks and nationalist messages resonated with a wide segment of the population.
“The result of the second round will be determining for the redefinition of the Romanian political system. A victory of George Simion will lead not only to a significant reorientation in international relations, but will amplify the internal political crisis to transform it into a regime crisis that offers the means for the radical change of the institutional-constitutional system. pro-European values, but would inevitably train a re-sampling of the political system.the political scientist Cristian Pîrvulescu also states.
