George Simion, the presidential gold candidate, publicly thanked the Trump administration for maintaining visas for Romanian citizens and excluded Romania from the Visa Waiver program, in an interview with an influencer Maga.
“Do you have any concern that it will happen that in the previous elections (canceled by the CCR, no), that the justice will intervene and do it again?”, Is the question addressed by the American journalist Jack Posobiec to George Simion.
“Justice cannot intervene now, the message from Washington was very powerful and thank Homeland Security and the State Department for sending Romania a warning, a correct warning that you are not a democracy and you cannot be in the Visa Waiver program,” said George Simion, in the interview with Jack Posobiec, published on Friday night.
“My political opponents suggested that I was the reason,” Simion said.

The United States announced on May 2, Romania's exclusion from the Visa Waiver program, which assumed that Romanians can travel without visas for tourist or business purposes. The decision was taken by the Department of Internal Security, in consultation with the State Department, according to an official statement.
The statement said that “maintaining the high standards of the Visa Waiver program is essential for our national security”.
“In view of the emphasis placed by this administration on the security of border and immigration, the secretary of internal security decided, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to cancel the designation of Romania within the VWP with immediate effect,” said Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, according to the statement.
The announcement was immediately followed by reactions from Bucharest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that it regrets the decision, stressing that Romania has met all the requirements to be included in this program.
Simion: “I was taken out of Visa Waiver because the elections were canceled”
On Tuesday night, in an interview at Digi24, George Simion claimed that Romania was removed from the Visa Waiver program due to the cancellation of the elections on December 6.
“We have contacts with the people in Homeland Security and Department of State responsible for the problem. We have a roadmap in this area and I do not know if to say, because it will sound populist, it will sound unfounded for those who are currently looking at Digi 24, but we will be repressed in the Visa Waiver program and the visas for Romania, once we will be re -demanded,” For Digi 24, quoted by News.ro.
When the attention was noted that in Romania it is a democracy, proof that he can speak freely and can dialogue on television, Simion reacted: “I agree and it is good that we dialogue, even if we have ideas sometimes.”
“What I want to tell you about this aspect, I do not know if you agree or not, is that I have been removed from the Visa Waiver program because in Romania the elections were canceled on December 6. I tell you directly from the source,” added Simion.
