Nearly 900 million euros – this will cost the design and execution of the express road to connect the “Moldovei” highway to the bridge over the Danube from Braila. The contract was awarded to an association led by the Romanian RAMU builder.

The National Road Investment Company (CNIR) awarded Monday the contract for the realization of the Express Road Focșani-Brăila to its association & on Construct-Spedition Pam-Tehnostrade-Arcada Company, with an offer of 4.29 billion lei (excluding VAT).

The Express Road Focșani-Brăila will have 73.5 km and will be made in a single lot-the longest section of high-speed road built through a single contract in Romania.

The duration of the contract is 6 months for design and 36 months for execution.

One feature: The whole project is contracted from the start of a single builder

The Express Focșani-Brăila road will ensure the connection between the Moldovan Highway of Ploiești-Pașcani (A7), the bridge over the Danube from Brăila, the express road Brăila-Galați (DEX 6), Tulcea and Constanța.

The project has a peculiarity with which it has been noted since the launch of the auction: although the road is quite long, it has been removed at the design and execution tender in a single batch, a single piece to be made by the same builder. This, unlike the auctions of highways so far in Romania, which involved breaking the projects in smaller sections, usually with a maximum length of about 30 kilometers, depending on complexity, explains Gabriel Budescu, the head of CNIR, in a hotnews.ro interview in 2024.

“” We decided to bid it from a single 73-kilometer section because it is in a plain area. The filling ground is quite problematic to find there. There will be some pretty big loan and at some point, if there were two or three builders, to get some of them or to give us the same material. Cases ”, said CNIR director.
