US President Donald Trump launched a call on his social network on Thursday night, Social Truth, at “An unconditional cessation of 30 -day fire” at the Ukraine war, AFP reports.

Both Russia and Ukraine “will be held accountable”, and “if the cessation of fire is not respected, the United States and their partners will impose new sanctions,” threatened the leader from the White House, shortly after a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski.

The US president added that a cessation of fire should lead to a “sustainable peace” and promised that he will “remain employed” in the discussions for this purpose.

Integral message published by Donald Trump on Social Truth:

  • Discussions with Russia and Ukraine continue. The United States ideally asks for an unconditional armistice for 30 days.
  • We hope that an acceptable armistice will be respected. Both countries will bear responsibility for respecting the sacred character of these direct negotiations.
  • If the armistice is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose additional sanctions.
  • Thousands of young soldiers die every week and everyone should want this to cease (the author's underline, no).
  • I want this, as well as the United States.
  • As the president, I will remain employed to ensure peace between Russia and Ukraine, together with the Europeans, and it will be a sustainable peace!
  • This armistice must eventually lead to a peace agreement.
  • Everything can be done very quickly, and I will be available immediately if my services are needed.
  • Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Earlier Thursday evening, the US president discussed his phone with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, Kiev previously announced, after ratification in the Ukrainian Parliament with Washington on the exploitation of Ukraine's natural resources.

Shortly after returning to power, Donald Trump launched discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, to end the conflict triggered by Russia's invasion in Ukraine in February 2022.

If initially it seemed particularly impatient to Volodimir Zelenski, the Republican later somewhat sweetened his tone to Ukraine, who ratified his mineral resources agreement on Thursday, to Donald Trump's great satisfaction, notes Agerpres.

The agreement establishes a common investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in the context of Trump's efforts to ensure a peace agreement in the war that lasts for more than three years between Moscow and Kiev.

The US president recently gave signs of frustration towards Vladimir Putin, AFP recalls.
