Conference with anti-vaccine theories in Brasov. The Minister of Health: “Medical misinformation is a direct attack on the health of the Romanians” / the reaction of the College of Physicians

A conference entitled “Covid-19 and Bio-Digital convergence”, which several doctors from public and private hospitals participated on Saturday, September 6, took place in Brasov. The event, presented as a medical debate, included topics such as the “explosion of post-vaccination cancers”, “children who die because of the Covid vaccine” and the idea of a “global conspiracy by vaccination”, according to Digi24. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, reacted after the conference, saying that “science is not negotiated, health does not play, and the truth is not relativized”, and asking the state authorities to notice. The event is not accredited by the College of Physicians, the representatives of the institution transmitted.

“Medical misinformation is a direct attack on the health of Romanians. I do not negotiate with the lie and I will not allow anyone to undermine patients' confidence in modern treatments (…) I categorically condemn these manifestations that endanger the lives of patients and undermine the confidence in medicine and in the state institutions,” Rogobete wrote on a Facebook.

The relevant minister asked the ethics commissions of the professional societies and the College of Physicians to analyze the behavior of the participating doctors.

“It is intolerable that such untruths are propagated by people who bear the title of doctors. The oath towards patients means truth and science, not manipulation and conspiracies (…) Science is not negotiated, health is not played, the truth is not relativized. I believe that a reaction is necessary in the public system. To notice, “Rogobete wrote.

According to Digi24, among the speakers were a primary radiology-imagistic doctor, coordinator of the radiology laboratory at the Clinical Hospital in Brasov, Răzvan Constantinescu-primary gastroenterologist and internal medicine in Iași, head of works at UMF Iași-, Geanina Hagima, a doctor of obstetricology, a doctor in Bucharest Tatiana Uruioc, neurologist at the hospital in Buhuși, as well as the psychologist Argentina Tudor in Arad.

Medical College: Pseudo-Scientific Conference, Huge Public Health Risk

The College of Physicians in Romania (CMR) has qualified the manifestation as a “pseudo-scientific conference”: “we are firmly delimited by this” pseudo-scientific conference “, it is not credited and not being credited by the CMR, being outside the medicine based on evidence, the basic principle in the medical activity. Such manifestations that are not part of the programs approved by continuous medical education, in order not to be associated with the attitudes that contravene the principles of medicine based on valid scientific evidence ”, wrote the representatives of the College of Physicians.

The college points out that the titles and themes debated “have neither related to medicine, science” and contravene the discoveries validated by modern medicine.

“We consider that both participants and readers of such a public manifestation should know that the notions of debated contradiction are blatantly contradicted with all the scientific discoveries, based on modern medicine, which could be a scientific and medical false. Professionals.

CMR requests that all state institutions be notified, including medical institutions where the speakers from the conference come from.

“The CMR considers that all the institutions in Romania with a role in the defense of the public health, the verification of the misinformation cases and the institutions with the role of protecting the Romanian state, as well as the institutions from where the speakers from the meeting, in the communication transmitted by the College of Physicians, must be noticed absolutely.

And the G6 UMF consortium, which brings together the six universities of medicine and pharmacy in the country, is delimited by the event.

“The G6 consortium of the pharmacy and medicine universities is firmly delimited by the pseudo-scientific opinions and the misinformation propagated among the population in false events called scientific conferences, as it is held today in Brasov,” a press release of the G6 UMF shows.
