The funeral allowance is to amount to 7,000 PLN from the beginning of 2026 this means a 75 % increase. From 2011, the benefit remained unchanged and amounted to 4,000. PLN, which often did not allow to cover even half the cost of burial of the deceased.
According to the draft amendment The allowance will be subject to valorisation from March 1 in a situation where inflation exceeds 5 percent. in the previous year. The lack of annual valorisation of the allowance is to prevent the price of funeral services to increase. The cost of raising the funeral allowance is PLN 1.2 billion in 2026.
The draft amendment also regulates the principle of accounting for the so -called targeted allowance. According to the project, he may be granted to a person who covered the costs of the funeral if he is not entitled to a funeral allowance after the deceased.
