Shortly after taking power in January, the head of the Pentagon Pete HegeSth gave the order to suspend weapons supply for Ukraine without the knowledge of the US President – reports Reuters on Tuesday. The transport of transports was to be resumed a few days later, after the intervention of the former adviser to Donald Trump Mike Waltz.

As the agency reports, although it is not known when exactly HegeSeth issued an oral order to suspend the supply of weapons, this led to the cancellation of 11 flights with the transport of American weapons and ammunition from bases in Delaware and Qatar, which was to cost a Pentagon of over $ 2 million.

According to the sources, which the authors of the text refer to, HegeSeth issued an order after a meeting in the oval office, where the war in Ukraine was discussed, but no decisions were made, while Trump learned about suspension of transport only later.

At the meeting of HegeSeth, a former presenter of Fox News breakfast television, he was to have a note prepared by his advisers calling for suspension of weapon supplies to increase pressure on Ukraine regarding peace negotiations.

Ultimately – writes Reuters – the deliveries were restored during the week, and according to one of the agency's interlocutors, this happened after the intervention of the White House of National Security, released last week, Mike Waltz, who was to find out about the case from the Pentagon officials. HegeSeth's order was to cause confusion, as well as Kiev's fears, but the Ukrainians were told after the fact that the break in deliveries was the result of “internal policy,” writes Reuters.

Some of the sources of the agency claim that HegeSeth misinterpreted the results of the discussion in the White House. However, the agency points out that advisers of the head of the Pentagon – among them were advisers, among others JD Vance Vice President – behind the scenes lobby for reducing support for Ukraine.

Reuters also emphasizes that in the Ministry of Defense under HegeSetha and his inexperienced colleagues there is chaos and there are fractional fights.

Military assistance for Kiev was again suspended for a week in March, after the quarrel of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zełnski with Trump and Vanc in the White House, but since then it has been continued. However, this is a weapon from packages approved by President Joe Biden.

The White House did not comment on this matter, but did not deny the agency's reports.

“Negotiations on the end of the Russian -Ukrainian war are a complex and smooth situation. We will not discuss in detail each conversation between the highest administration officials during the whole trial,” said the spokeswoman for the White House Karoline Leavitt.
