“Tancowiec + Khatanga + is fully prepared to leave the port. All technical and environmental activities have been completed, and the fuel fluids located on the unit were completely removed. The ship was classified as waste in accordance with the current regulations of the European Union” – said the spokeswoman of the ZMPG Kalina Gierblińska.
She noted that the procedure for removing the unit and transporting it to the shipyard in Denmark, having EU certification to utilize this type of waste, “is a multi -stage process and requires international cooperation.”
“Currently, the Port of Gdynia is waiting for the necessary documentation from the Danish equivalent of the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection – Miljostyrelsen (Danish Environmental Protection Agency), subject to the Danish Ministry of the Environment. Without these documents, you cannot start surgery to move out the ship” – said Gierblińska.
The deadline for removing the unit has just passed

“Port of Gdynia and the Maritime Office in Gdynia, however, remain in full operational readiness, and the delay results only from the waiting for the documentation of the Danish side. According to the assurances of institutions involved in this process, the documents will be forwarded to the Polish side as soon as possible” – said the representative of the port of Gdynia.
