The World Champion Max Verstappen received a 10 -second penalty due to an error of his team in the speakers, when he was released on the track while Andrea Kimi Antonelli was passing through the area. The two collided, resulting in the damage to Max's front wing, and Antonelli was forced to miss his speaker.
Max Verstappen doesn't have a season as they would like! Clearly dominated in the fight for the title of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, both McLaren, the world champion quadruple had another incident and in the sprint race in the big prize in Miami. Even though he finished in 4th place, Verstappen received a 10 -second penalty that relegated directly to the last place of the race, 17, as 3 pilots abandoned.
Under these conditions, Max remained third in the ranking of the pilots in 2025, 10 points behind Norris and 19 behind Piastri.
Verstappen explained the incident with Antonelli
The Red Bull pilot briefly commented on the incident with the young Antonelli, who attracted the penalty from the sprint race:
“No one wants such incidents to happen, but it happens. We have to investigate the incident, but I'm glad that no one was hurt. With these cars, it's never good to hit another vehicle. It is clear what happened, so I don't have much to add.”
