“Tennis will have to wait”

Ons Jabeur (31 years old, former world number 2) announced that her break from tennis will continue, but not for the initial reasons related to mental health, but due to the fact that she is pregnant, due to give birth in April 2026 to a boy.

In mid-summer, three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur announced that she would be taking a break from tennis, dealing with both physical and mental issues. Last week, the Tunisian returned to the public's attention, being present in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Tournament of Champions.

There, Jabeur has denied that he is retiring from tennisexplained how the past few months have been and revealed the changed mindset he wants to adopt after returning to the field.

“The confidence is still there, but what has changed is that I won't put pressure on myself anymore. I will be there, I will try, I will be happier on the pitch, and if I succeed, I will know that I tried everything. (…) And if it won't happen, it means that it was meant to happen“, said the 31-year-old tennis player.

Meanwhile, Jabeur announced that the break from tennis will be extended, but for a reason of happiness. More precisely, the player who at one time occupied the 2nd place in the WTA ranking is pregnant and will give birth in April 2026.

“I took a little break to reset and recharge. Looks like I planned the cutest comeback ever. The field will have to wait because soon we will be welcoming our littlest teammate. A little boy will join the team in April,” Jabeur wrote on Instagram, posting a video of herself and her husband Karim Kamoun, whom she married in 2015.

The video quickly gathered a lot of reactions, with Ana Bogdan, Sorana Cîrstea and Gabriela Ruse being among the players who congratulated Jabeur. Also, Daniela Hantuchova, four-time Grand Slam mixed doubles winner, posted a funny comment.
