Gabriela Ruse Set to Face Karolina Muchova in Bad Homburg Semifinals

Gabriela Ruse, ranked 105th in the WTA at 28 years old, has learned her opponent for the semifinals at Bad Homburg. The Romanian will face Karolina Muchova, the tournament’s fourth seed and currently ranked 11th in the WTA, who secured her spot after defeating Clara Tauson in the quarterfinals with a score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in a match lasting two hours and five minutes.
On the other side of the draw, Naomi Osaka, ranked 15th and the sixth seed, will compete against Xinyu Wang, who is ranked 52nd.

In her quarterfinal match, Muchova faced a tough start against the younger Tauson, who won the first set decisively at 6-1 after breaking Muchova’s serve early. However, the Czech player turned the match around, winning the second set 6-2, and despite leading in the final set at 5-1, she had to fend off a late surge from Tauson before finally securing the victory with a 6-4 score.
With her semifinal appearance, Gabriela Ruse has earned 195 WTA ranking points and €57,395 in prize money. Previously, she reached a semifinal in a 500-level tournament in Linz in 2026, where she was eliminated by Mirra Andreeva.
This will be the second encounter between Ruse and Muchova, with their first meeting taking place earlier in 2023 in Auckland, where Muchova won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
