After the head of the US election monitoring delegation stated that there were “external interference” in the canceled election of 2024, two of the candidates, Crin Antonescu and Nicușor Dan, welcomed the statement made by James Trainor, vice -president of the Federal Commission for elections.
“I welcome the presence of the American emissary here and the fact that, here, we end with a legend that is why this conspiracy.
“Things are for normalization”
He estimated that the authorities will organize the poll on Sunday, and a great vote presence will legitimize the presidential elections.
“I believe that, according to the experience we went through, we will have many voters and I hope to have as many voters as possible to give as solid legitimacy to this choice. I think people will be civilized, disciplined, I think the authorities will do their duty and, if we are all attentive – we are not at the first democratic elections,” said Antonescu.

For his part, Nicușor Dan estimated that the statement of the American official shows that the Romanian-American relations are on the way.
“It's very good. It's a big step forward for Romania (…) JD Vice Vice President said he was ashamed that I canceled the elections. It's a big step before saying that there were some problems and so that this decision is justified. We have to clarify even more for the American partner and for the Romanian citizens, so that the world was quiet,” Nicuş was quiet.
According to him, “we have a strategic partnership with the United States, which is very important for us in security issues.”
“After several diplomatic owners, we have this statement that says there were problems (…) So things are for normalization, anyone who will be president must continue this discussion for the confidence to be restored,” said Nicuşor Dan, according to News.ro.
US monitoring mission
A delegation of the United States of America came to Bucharest on Friday to monitor the presidential elections on Sunday, informs Antena 3. The head of the delegation, James Trainor, said that, in the case of the canceled elections, there is evidence on “external interference” in the electoral process.
The American delegation is headed by the vice -president of the Federal Commission for elections, Republican James E. Trainor. Asked about the elections canceled in Romania, last year, Trainor said that the CSAT documents show very clearly that they were “external interferences in the electoral process”.
“I am a lawyer, so I looked at the documents of the Constitutional Court and on the basis of which they made the decision, it is obvious that a lot of evidence there shows that there were external interferences. Some of the decisions that were made, as Vice President Vance said, are questionable. But in the end, it is important to exclude these interferences. People, “said James Trainor.
Trainor indicated Russia as the main source of interference, but not just limited to it.
“There were clearly foreign influences, mainly Russian influences. Tik Tok is held by the Chinese, you have a lot of interference that only come from that platform,” said Trainor, quoted by Antena 3.
