8,122 guitarists gathered on the Wrocław Market Square played on Thursday the song “Hey Joe” by Jimi Hendriks. Thus, a new guitar world record was set.


An attempt to set a guitar world record took place in Wrocław for the 23rd time. Guitar playing lovers meet in this city every year to play the song Jimi Hendriks “Hey Joe” together with the invited musicians.
The previous record was set in 2023, when 7967 guitarists performed together. On Thursday, 8,122 guitarists played “Hey Joe”. “Another magical number has been exceeded, you are great,” said the originator of the event Leszek Cichoński.
This year, the event was attended by, among others Guitarist Bob Marley, Al Anderson, Australian guitarist Orianthi, blues guitarist Leburn Maddox and Polish artists – Wojciech Cugowski and Grzegorz Skawiński. One of the five scenes also performed, among others Myslovitz, big cyc and wholesale bands.
This year's world record breaking was accompanied by the slogan “Remember Woodstock!”. “We want to refer to the spirit of Woodstock, children of flowers and sending peace and love, as well as unifying vibration of music. This year we focus on color, freedom, joy and positive” Energies “, and all participants are encouraged to dress up in the style of the 1960s and 70s to create a colorful ?, Musical? The guitarists gathered on the Wrocław market since the morning. Concerts, as well as workshops, competitions and meetings lasted on five scenes. Successful attempt to establish a guitar world record took place after 4pm.
To play on the Wroclaw market, it was enough to have a guitar and know five basic chords C/G/D/A/E needed to perform the song “Hey Joe”. All types of guitars – acoustic, classic, electric and bass are important to the record. Mandolins, banjo and ukulele are also allowed.
Participants of the world record breaking of the world record will be able to continue playing during the 3-Majówka festival starting on Thursday afternoon, which will take place at the pergola at Hala Stulecia for three days. (PAP)
