The candidate of the ruling coalition in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, explained on Wednesday evening, in the electoral debate at the Parliament Palace organized by Antena 3 CNN, why he refused to shake hands with Victor Ponta, stating that the former PSD leader and his “acolytes”, including Sebastian Ghiţă, “they have a level for them”.

Crin Antonescu was asked why he did not shake hands with Victor Ponta at the meeting a day ago, at the electoral debate organized by the public television at the Cotroceni Palace.

“I used to shake hands with all the people I consider as such, voters or not, I think that Mr. Ponta lied. He also said in 2011, when he had kicked (Mircea) Geoana from the party, when he needed me, so I do not think he voted, and if he voted, I do not want to give him a hand.

“I simply understand the political struggles. I also shook hands with Traian Basescu after big scandals and other political opponents, I gave my hand with all the politicians. With Mr. Ponta I do not give it to the reason that during this period, on the occasion of this campaign, (…) Mr. Ponta together with his acolytes The hand with them.

“Not from caution, I am not a very cautious man when it comes to my person, not for fear, but with my voters I shake hands anyway,” he said.
