Police officers in Spanish Oviedo detained an American-German pair suspected of keeping in closing from 2021 of their three children-8-year-old twins and their 10-year-old brother.
According to “El Pais”, the children did not attend school and slept in children's cots. In recent years, they have lived in a house in the suburbs of the city of Oviedo in nightmarish sanitary conditions, among the excrement. According to the newspaper “La Razon”, the rooms were stench, and blinds were taken on the windows.

The police operation began on April 14, when the neighbor reported her fears to the authorities. She suspected that children live in the house because sometimes she heard voices and saw them through the window, although they never went outside. After a few days of observation, the police noticed that the door of the house, officially inhabited only by a man, was opened only to receive food supplies from the supermarket. The officers began to suspect that the amount of food ordered is too large for one person.
After obtaining a court order to search, seven police officers of the local police entered the house, social services of the Duchy of Asturia and German translator. The whole was coordinated by a juvenile lawyer.
As one of the police reports in an interview with the newspaper “La Nueva España”, the father of the children opened the door after explaining the reason for the service and admitted that there were a minor at home. The officers were allowed inside, although they were asked to wait for children to put on masks.
The children were very scared and kept close to their mother, who claimed that they had serious diseases and should not be approached. According to the police, they were wearing three masks and were confused. One of the children in disbelief touched the grass, and after removing all the three breathed deeply, as if they had never been outside before.
Francisco Javier Lozano, the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police in Oviedo, summed up the action in the conversation saying that “House of Horror” was liquidated.
The father of the children is a 53-year-old German, while the mother is a 48-year-old American who also has German citizenship. They were both imprisoned in custody in Oviedo. The court did not agree to release them in favor of bail. The children were handed over to the regional authorities.
Currently, the case has been taken over by the Spanish Guardia Civil, which conducts further investigation.
