Daniel Băluță, ironic to Ilie Bolojan: “I apologize for the crime of opinion that I committed today”

Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4 and president of PSD Bucharest, accuses, on Friday evening, the sanctioning of “tort” his opinion and says, in an ironic tone, that he apologizes for that “he afforded it” to publicly express opinions shared, in his view, by “millions of Romanians”.

“Mr. Prime Minister, I apologize for the crime of opinion that I committed today. I apologize for allowing myself to publicly say what I feel and think, both myself and millions of Romanians. Please forgive me for allowing myself to work on the Plan of the Union and for taking responsibility for one of the most difficult works of strategic importance for Bucharest. Please excuse me because I allowed myself to complete with utmost seriousness the procedure for creating the technical documentation, that of the public auction, as well as the smooth running of the works of complete restoration and making the city center safe“, writes Daniel Băluță in a post published on Friday on the PSD Bucharest Facebook page.
His ironies come after another round of attacks on Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The mayor lists, in his post, a series of other projects that he considers achievements of the local administration:
“I also apologize for allowing myself to inform the citizens of Bucharest about all the changes that the construction site at Planșeul Unirii has produced in road and pedestrian traffic, precisely so that people can circulate safely throughout the work period. Also, Mr. Prime Minister, I apologize for allowing myself to bring 5 billion euros, non-reimbursable European funds, to Romania. I apologize for allowing myself to build subway stations, hospitals, fire stations, schools. And I apologize for anything else you want.”
In the same message, Băluță emphasizes that the money administered by the Government and local authorities is “Romanians' money”not of a person or institution.
“The Government's money is, just like that of Sector 4, the Romanians' money. It is neither yours nor anyone else's”, writes the mayor of District 4.
The mayor also expresses his fear that there could be political reprisals:
“With the hope that you will not take revenge, that you will not close the construction sites we work on together or anything else (?), I assure you that I will do everything humanly possible for the well-being of Romanians.”
The post comes after other attacks on the same day – not only by Daniel Băluță, but also by the PSD – against Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, after the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced that Romania's economy had officially entered a technical recession.
