Acute criticism of Russia. Hungary with a separate position

In a statement, the signatories of the Three Seas initiative expressed support for the defending Ukraine. “Due to the repercussions for European and global security, we strongly condemn the Russian war against Ukraine, as well as all support for it from third countries. We confirm our unwavering support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity within the limits recognized by the international community “ – written in the document.
Member States also argued in favor of increasing the pressure on Russia, “to weaken its ability to continue to wage the aggressive war.” “We remain convinced that those who have issued orders or committed war crimes in Ukraine must be held responsible,” he added.
The common position also included a call to accelerate the accession process of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU. “Considering that Ukraine's membership in the EU is one of the most valuable security guarantees that the EU can provide, we call to accelerate the accession process with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova” – said the declaration.

Hungary breaks down again
However, with the exception of Western Balkans accessions, Hungary did not agree with these demands. “Hungary cut off from paragraphs 4-9 of a joint declaration. The Hungarian national position in relation to the issues contained in (…) the points listed was forwarded in a separate statement attached to the joint declaration” – we read in the document.
Hungary emphasized that “they remain a involved and constructive state participating in the Tri -Morzece initiative”, but they cannot agree with the provisions on the security of the region, membership of Ukraine in the EU and the condemnation of Russian aggression in Ukraine. “From the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Hungary has been consistently in favor of peace and we will also do so in the future” – they were pointed out in a statement. The Hungarian government believes that “with the beginning of negotiations on the suspension of weapons between the USA and Russia and Ukraine and Russia, we have entered the new phase of the conflict”, so “we should refrain from taking any steps that could potentially hinder the lasting peace conversations.”
The declaration of Member States also emphasized the progress in the field of infrastructure and economic investments and hope for further cooperation was expressed. Croatia announced the organization of the next summit and the Business Forum in 2026.
The Initiative of the Three Seas was initiated by the presidents of Poland Andrzej Duda and Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović in 2015, and its inaugural peak took place in 2016 in Dubrovnik.
