Karol Nawrocki will meet with Zelensky. During the celebration of the anniversary of the January Uprising

President Karol Nawrocki will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Lithuania on Sunday; both of them, together with the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, will take part in the celebration of the anniversary of the January Uprising – said the president's spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz.

Leśkiewicz said on Thursday in Polsat News that the meeting of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine is to take place during Nawrocki's visit to Vilnius scheduled for Sunday. It is related to the celebration of the 163rd anniversary of the January Uprising.

– Three presidents will meet: President Nauseda, President Zelensky and President Karol Nawrocki. They will meet, among others: at the Holy Mass in the Vilnius Archcathedral. This is the unifying element – common history, the history of the fight against Tsarist Russia and now the fight of Ukrainians against the Russian Federation. This is a historical parallel that constitutes a good platform for talks, said Leśkiewicz. He added that “there will be a moment when President Nawrocki will talk to President Zelensky.”

As Leśkiewicz said, presidents “meet not only to celebrate together,” but also to talk about “important political issues.”

When asked whether the topics would include, among others: conditions for peace in Ukraine, Leśkiewicz emphasized that these conditions must be indicated by the Ukrainians themselves, and not imposed on them.

– Certainly, President Nawrocki firmly believes that the conditions for peace in Ukraine must be reached through negotiations, in which, of course, US President Donald Trump participates.and he is the person, the world leader, who took upon himself the burden of bringing peace to Ukraine. But the terms of this peace must first of all be accepted by the Ukrainians themselves – this is obvious, said the president's spokesman.

President Nawrocki, who this week was at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, had already announced a meeting with Zelensky this weekend; he met there, among others with President Trump.

Zelensky also met with the American leader on Thursday in Davos; after the meeting he announced, among others: that on Friday and Saturday in the United Arab Emirates there will be a trilateral meeting with the participation of diplomats from Ukraine, the USA and Russia regarding the peace agreement. The President of Ukraine also said that the document specifying American security guarantees for Ukraine is ready, but the territorial issues in the war with Russia have not yet been resolved. He assessed that both countries should compromise on this matter.

Zelensky met with Nawrocki during his December visit to Warsaw. Nawrocki then emphasized that “in strategic security issues, Poland, Ukraine and the countries of the region are together”

Leśkiewicz was also asked by Polsat News about relations with the Nordic countries. In response, he pointed out that the visit of the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, with his wife, Queen Silvia, to Warsaw and Gdańsk was planned on March 10-12. – This will be a great moment to talk about bilateral relations between Sweden and Poland – he said, pointing out, among other things, for the participation of some Swedish ministers in this visit.

This will be the first visit of the Swedish king to Poland since 2011. (PAP)
