Rapid reaction to the presidential debate – Ponta and Simion are competing with the same strategy: down any institution!

While Simion and Ponta turn the back of the first television electoral debate, others would have liked to participate, but they were not invited. Daniel Funeriu accused Ilie Bolojan that “it allowed a private television to decide instead of the people who are the main candidates.” The debate took place at the Cotroceni Palace.

According to Victor Ponta, George Simion also chose not to participate in this evening's debate from Digi 24. Unlike Ponta who announced his withdrawal this morning, Simion made it scenographically, on stage, in a theatrical way.

He came to the scene, the Cotroceni Palace, along with his wife, greeted his supporters, stayed with his mother, and then he was invited to present his supporters gave him a bouquet of flowers Elena Lasconi and announced that he was leaving.

The reason for the flower bouquet? The candidate registered by the USR in the electoral race would be the only one of all who was voted by the Romanians and should go in the second round. So it deserves its place in the debate.

The reason for his departure? He cannot participate in a debate that is not Călin Georgescu.

The golden candidate does, in fact, what the whole campaign has done, namely trying to decredibility not only the mainstream press, but also the classic institutions. One of these institutions is the electoral debate.

This is one of his strategies designed to win the sympathy of Călin Georgescu's voters: in the eyes of these people, the televisions and institutions represent the “system”, so they are not reliable. He doesn't deserve Georgescu or Simion.

The gold leader refused, for example, to answer Hotnews questions about a very delicate topic for him: the accusations that he met with a Russian Secret Service in Cernăuți. Of course, from the very detailed explanations of the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, Anatol Shelaru, it does not necessarily appear that the gold leader provided information to the Russians or that he knew exactly who he was meeting.

The Ukrainian secret services, the ones from which the information left, would have learned about the meeting while monitoring a FSB agent in Ukraine. We have no other details, for now. And I pointed out, as journalists, transparently, the limits of the story.

But even so, Romanians deserve to hear Simion's version, if they still want to be president.

This strategy of candidates, such as George Simion and Victor Ponta, is very harmful, to speak only with some of the public of this country and to ignore all other parties. Because, regardless of whether some journalists are dear or unpleasant, they only represent people who go to vote. Many may have settled tonight in front of the TVs to decide with whom they vote. All they have to do is enter Tiktok, Ponta and Simion told them.

We will see if “everyone stays in his bubble” that works in the elections. But in everyday life, it certainly doesn't work.
