North Korea confirmed on Monday for the first time that he sent soldiers to fight with Russia against Ukraine, to the orders of leader Kim Jong Un, stating that he helped to regain control over Russian territories occupied by Ukraine, according to Reuters.
The victorious end of the battle for the release of the Russian Kursk region has shown the “highest strategic level of firm militant friendship” between North Korea and Russia, the Unique Party of Phenian, quoted by the KCNA State Agency.
Russia said last week that Ukrainian forces were expelled from the last Russian village they were controlling, but Kiev denied the information and said that his troops are still operating in Belgorod, another Russian region that is adjacent to Ukraine.
“They are all heroes,” says Phenian
The Central Military Commission of the North Korean Workers Party said that leader Kim Jong has made the decision to conduct troops under the global strategic partnership, which he signed a little last year.
Under the orders of Kim, the North Korean military units fought the same commitment they would have shown if they had fought for their own country, the Commission, quoted by Kcna.
“Those who fought for justice are all heroes and representatives of the honor of the homeland,” Kim said.
North Korea “considers it an honor to have an alliance with a state as powerful as the Russian Federation,” Kcna said.
South Korea: “A recognition of a criminal act”
The US State Department has asked to end the North Korea's detachment in Russia and any support from Russia, in return, adding that Russia has violated the resolutions of the UN Security Council by training the North Korean soldiers.
Countries such as North Korea, whose support “perpetuated the Russia-Ukraine War, bears a responsibility,” said a spokesman for the State Department for Reuters.
South Korea said that the confirmation of the troops was a “recognition of a criminal act” on Monday and condemned the north for the “inhuman and immoral” decision to send their young people to the struggle with the intention to support their regime.
North Korea sent an estimated total of 14,000 soldiers, including 3,000 substitutes to compensate for losses, Ukrainian officials said. Lacking armored vehicles and experiences in the war with drones, they suffered heavy losses, but they adapted quickly.
Russia acknowledged on Saturday that he received North Korean soldiers
Ukrainian forces for special operations said on Thursday that they killed a unit of 25 North Korean soldiers in Kursk. They broadcast a video recording in which one of the killed soldiers and their goods appeared, which included a written ticket in Korean.
North Korea has also provided Russia with weapons, including artillery and ballistic missiles, South Korean officials said.
The spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zaharova, announced on Saturday night that the Phenian soldiers fought side by side with the Russian armed forces during the Kursk region, against the Ukrainian troops and the “foreign militants”.
Her announcement came shortly after the head of the General Staff of the Russian army, Valeri Gherasimov, also praised the contribution of North Korean officers and soldiers to the Kursk region, saying that they showed “a high professionalism, strength, courage and heroism”
