In the note of foundation of the Government Decision consulted by HotNews, it is shown that for Bucharest International Airport Băneasa – Aurel Vlaicu, Master the General Transport Plan of Romania provides for the following projects:
- Modernization of the take -off track – landing at 3500 m long and PCN 85 and ensuring the compatibility of the new investments with the other movement surfaces;

“The passenger traffic registered a significant increase, about 400%, from about 10,000 passengers in 2022 to an estimate of approximately 400,000 passengers in 2025. According to the internal forecasts, starting with 2026, the maximum processing capacity of the current terminal will be reached. Running ”, is shown in the document.
Thus, the modernization plan for the period 2025 – 2035 provides, among others, the reorganization of the current terminal, the development of a new terminal, but also the modernization of the runway and the tread.

A new passenger terminal will be built in Baneasa
The development of a new passenger processing terminal, with the necessary facilities, will consider “a capacity of at least 800 passengers/peak hour and the arrangement of the adjacent land, near the terminal existing to the east, which will have access to the platform”.
“The development of a new terminal together with the related support infrastructure – access roads, public parking and technical areas – will ensure an additional estimated processing capacity to a minimum of 800 passengers/hour.
At the same time, the plan also provides for the modernization of the beaconing system and the modernization of the airport movement surface.
“As the runway and light beacon system were modernized in 2007, current maintenance work will be considered to ensure an optimal operating period. Also, the platform is considered to be part of the terminal complex and will therefore be influenced by the concept of terminals,” notes the document.
“The financing of the investment objectives for the period 2025-2035 is achieved from the beneficiary's own sources, bank loans, public funds obtained under the law and other legally constituted sources. The possible funds from the state budget will be requested, within the amounts allocated by the annual laws of the state budget, only to cover the costs related to the event” shows in the Government document.
