– At the moment it is absolutely necessary for us to remain short and united. There is no ambiguity as to the fact that Marine Le Pen is my candidate. If it was prevented tomorrow, I think I could say that I would be her candidate – said Bardella.
He stipulated, however, that the National Union “would use all possible ways” to continue to “preach its innocence” in a case in which both the party and Le Pen itself was convicted of embezzlement of public funds.

Bardella also argued that he was preparing primarily for the role of prime minister (he was the candidate of the RN for the head of the government during last year's parliamentary elections). He argued that the features expected from “the potential prime minister and the candidate in the presidential election are more or less the same.”
“The ability to unite, listen, understand the French – these are tasks that have belonged to me for several months,” Bardella said.
Pursuant to the judgment of the Court of First Instance, Le Pen cannot apply for public functions for five years. The politician refers to the judgment, and the Court of Appeal declared that the appeal will be considered before the presidential election in 2027, Le Pen declares that her participation in political life will not change, and the RN has not yet officially raised the issue of possible withdrawal of Le Pen as a candidate in the next election.
On March 31, the court found Le Pen guilty in the case of the fictitious employment of the deputies of its grouping in the European Parliament. The court ruled against the policy immediately enforced a ban on applying for public positions for five years. The politician was also sentenced to four years imprisonment, including two suspension, but this part of the punishment does not come into force immediately. In addition, Le Pen received a financial penalty of PLN 100,000. euro.
