A local councilor and well-known businessman from Vrancea county died in an accident on the A1 highway, near the town of Giarmata, on the way to Arad.

Gabriel Bolovan was a local councilor in Jaristea commune, Vrancea county. According to the first information, the car he was driving was in the emergency lane when it was violently hit by a bus with Bulgarian license plates, writes the local press.
The car was badly damaged as a result of the impact, and the driver died on the spot. There was also a 50-year-old woman in the car, who survived and was taken to hospital.
“On April 6, 2026, around 6:25 p.m., on the A1 Deva-Nădlac highway, there was an accident in the direction of travel from the town of Giarmata towards the municipality of Arad, between a car driven by a 56-year-old man and a truck driven by a 36-year-old man. As a result of the impact, one person died, namely the 56-year-old man, and a woman 50 years old was injured and transported to the hospital for specialized medical care. The driver of the truck was tested with the breathalyzer, the result was negative”the authorities said.
Who is the dead politician?
Gabriel Bolovan was 56 years old and was known in Jariștea both as a businessman and as a local elected official.
He had activities in viticulture and transport and was on his first mandate in the Jaristea Local Council, according to Vrancea24.
