Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Saturday that it had detained a suspect in the murder of General Iaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the main operations of the General Staff of the Russian armed forces, in a bomb attack on Friday near Moscow.
The arrested suspect is Ignat Kuzin, originally from the Ukrainian city. FSB states that this is “an agent of special Ukrainian services,” Reuters reports.
The suspect, who risks life imprisonment if he is found guilty for terrorism, is currently interrogated by investigators, said the Russian investigation committee, the body in charge of investigating the most sensitive cases, EFE news agency also notes.
Ukraine did not comment on the attack, but it bears the imprint of other assassinations committed by Ukrainian secret services against some Russian persons or supporters of the Kremlin, as they were a famous Russian military blogger in a bomb attack at St. Petersburg or Daria Dghina, the daughter of Aleksandr Dung. Located under its car, notes the above mentioned source.
He was also assassinated in Moscow in December General Igor Kirilov, the commander of the radiological, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian armed forces.
General Moskalik died on Friday morning after a car exploded near a block in Balașiha, in the Moscow region, in a neighborhood mainly inhabited by former military.
The deflagration was caused by an improvised explosive device, amplified by a gas bottle in the vehicle, according to Russian emergency services. The power of the explosion was equivalent to over 300 grams of TNT, officials said.
According to the reports of the Russian press, the car exploded when General Moskalik left the block, the device being activated from a distance. The first information quoted by the jellyfish says that the Volkswagen that exploded did not belong to Moskalik.
According to the data, the general actually had a Skoda Kodiaq 2020. The Volkswagen has been resold at least three times from the end of January, writes Mash. The information of this post shows that the last owner of the car was Ignat K., 40 years old, originally from the Ukrainian city.
Moskalik was killed a few hours before American President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, met in Moscow with President Vladimir Putin.
