The main purpose of the meeting is Signing the EDA bridging agreement-Engineering Development Agreement between Polish nuclear power plants and the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium.
The Prime Minister's office specifies that the conversations will concern Polish-American cooperation in the field of nuclear energy – including the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland.
After the meeting, in the presence of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, the aforementioned contract will be signed.
The construction of a nuclear power plant in the Choszczewo commune (Lubiatowo-Kopalino) will start in 2028, and the launch is planned for 2036.
The government will allocate PLN 60.2 billion from the state budget to finance this strategic investment.
Wojciech Wrochna, government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure at a briefing during the European Economic Congress in Katowice said that Work on the preparation of the contract enters the finalization phaseemphasizing the importance of this project for the Polish economy and energy independence.

Poland is consistently heading towards the implementation of its first nuclear investment. At the beginning of April, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the government's success in negotiations regarding the new agreement with the contractors of the power plant. According to the announcement, the contract is to be a key stage on the way to the start of construction works.
We would like to remind you that in 2023 Polish nuclear power plants (PEJ), Westinghouse and Bechtel signed a contract to design a future power plant. It is its construction in Pomerania that is to be a breakthrough for the energy in the country, introducing Poland to a map of countries implementing nuclear technology on a large scale.
In the world, atomic power plants have about 32 countries. Most nuclear reactors are in the United States, France, China and Russia. In addition, about 10 countries are building new reactors or are planning the development of nuclear energy, although they currently do not have active nuclear power plants. Nuclear energy plays an important role in the decarbonization of the economy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
