On this day, the memory of the martyr Fomaida Egyptian, who gave his life for faith in 476, is noted.

To Thomaid, people went to the forest to collect a jellyfish, which was used when brewing teas and making salads. Surprisingly, the people believed that this fragrant flower of bees fly around seven miles.

In Rus', it was customary that the most experienced hostess in the house was walking behind the Medunitsa. And so that the bear, who was attributed to dislike of the weak floor, did not recognize the woman in her, she put on a sheepskin coat, turned outward.

Also on this day it was possible to tear the first seedlings of sorrel, which was put in a salad and in cabbage soup. Particularly tasty in the spring there were halves in monastic, in which, in addition to sorrel, parsley, onions, potatoes and oil entered.
