Victor Udoh, a former Nigerian striker who also played for Southampton and Antwerp, has died under suspicious circumstances at the age of 21, according to The Sun.
Udoh moved from Abuja to Belgium as a teenager and ended up in Royal Antwerp's academy. The Nigerian striker has impressed for the Belgian second team, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances.
Udoh later made his debut for Antwerp's first team at the age of 19 and made 28 appearances without scoring a goal. The only contributions were the two assists.
However, the Nigerian striker piqued the interest of Southampton, who brought him to St. Mary's Stadium in January 2025. Udoh then signed a contract valid for 3.5 years and played for the second team of the “Sfinites”, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 8 appearances.
Udoh failed to break into Southampton's first team, with whom he parted ways amicably after just a few months. The Nigerian then went to the Czech Republic, to Ceske Budejovice, with whom he had signed a contract valid until 2028.
We are devastated by the tragic death of our former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21. Our sincere condolences go out to Victor's loved ones at this terrible time!
