US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he had pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow food and drugs into the Gaza strip, Reuters notes.

Asked by journalists, aboard the Air Force One plane, if the subject of humanitarian aid was discussed in the telephone call with Netanyahu at the beginning of the week, Trump answered affirmatively: “I talked about Gaza and I said:” We have to be good with Gaza … Those people suffer. “

Asked if he raised the problem of opening access points for aid, the US president confirmed: “We deal with it. There is a huge need for medicines, food and medicines, and we deal with the problem.”

Asked how the Israeli prime minister reacted, Trump claimed that he “had a positive reaction.”

Humanitarian aid has not been delivered in Gaza on March 2. Israel conditions the entry of the goods to release all the hostages remaining in captivity after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Then about 1,200 people were killed in the south of Israel, and another 251 people were taken hostage, according to Israeli authorities.

Since then, over 51,300 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health. “Hunger is expanding in Gaza, malnutrition worsens, wounded and other patients are not treated, and – as I said – people die,” Stéphane Dujarric said on Friday.

At the beginning of the mandate, Trump repeatedly stated that the US will take over the Gaza Strip, after the Palestinians are relocated elsewhere, and will develop it from an economic point of view.
