Several people who have received electoral letters from Simion have notified the Permanent Electoral Authority

The AEP announces that it will send to the National Supervisory Authority for the processing of personal data the notifications of the citizens who have claimed that they have received, by post, personalized envelopes from George Simion, the presidential gold candidate.

“In view of the numerous complaints by which it is claimed that several citizens have received, by post, in a personalized envelope, political advertising addressed to them by Mr. George-Nicolae Simion, candidate from the Alliance party for the union of Romanians in the elections for the President of Romania from 2025, the permanent electoral authority (the CAP) Supervision of Personal Data Processing“, states in a statement of the AEP.

The AEP adds that in the notifications received, violations of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council were claimed on April 27, 2016 on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data and on the free movement of these data and for repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Regulation on Data Protection) data.

At the same time, the AEP states that these notifications will be considered including within the control that is currently in the respective political formation.

The permanent electoral authority has informed the public that the recipients of these types of materials benefit from the right of access to personal data, according to the provisions of art. 15 of the General Regulation on data protection, as well as the right to delete personal data, according to the provisions of art. 17 of the same regulation.

“In order to exercise these rights, citizens must contact the political formation directly“, The AEP statement said.
