Tottenham finally drew at Liverpool (1-1), avoiding a 5th consecutive defeat under Igor Tudor. But the Croatian manager seemed to want to make fun of himself!
He took the player liaison officer as Arne Slot
Before the starting whistle, as he made his way to the bench, Tudor approached from behind a bald guy, who was sitting with his arms crossed on the side of the pitch, dressed in a dark coat.
Tudor tapped him on the shoulder to greet him and shake his hand before the match began – probably thinking it was his counterpart, Arne Slot. But when he returned he realized it was Tottenham player liaison officer Allan Dixon.
Eventually, the Tottenham manager found Slot and the two exchanged greetings and a hug. But in the end, he came out on the set again, through a tense dialogue with Sky Sport reporter Patrick Davison.
Igor Tudor, nervous: “Done!”
Davison asked him if the point at Anfield Road could give supporters hope of the team staying in the Premier League, but Igor Tudor, perhaps misreading the question, fumed: “No more of that stuff. I've always told you what I think.”
Davison insisted: “But don't you think sometimes these questions need to be asked and answered? You have a lot of Spurs fans around the world.” To which Tudor retorted: “What questions need to be answered?” And Davison clarified: “Well, about the future of the club. About who the coach will be. Will the team stay in the Premiership?”.
Igor Tudor was stuck: “What question is this? What do I have to tell you? I'm done?!”
Croatian coach's reply: “That's not a question for me. I'm the coach. You have to ask me about the players, how we play.” When the reporter pointed out that “I did it,” Tudor burst out: “And I answered you, so it's a meaningless question.
All coaches will say the same things. But you always ask that, so the coach has to answer something, because he is obliged to come to this press conference. Otherwise he would like to stay at home. But you almost always insist on the same questions”.
Davison then tried to change the approach: “My point is, have you shown today, with the way Tottenham played, that you can offer hope?” In vain. Igor Tudor was stuck: “What kind of question is this? What do I have to tell you now? Am I done or not?”. At which point the reporter dropped: “Yeah. I'm done.”
